The Decrits Consensus Algorithm: Decentralized Agreement without Proof of Work

چکیده

Decrits is a cryptocurrency in development that makes use of a novel consensus algorithm that does not require proof-of-work. This paper describes how the Decrits Consensus Algorithm (DCA) is as trustless as a proof-of-work algorithm while offering superior transaction security at virtually no cost. Cryptocurrency: A digital construction of classical money that is protected from duplication and fraud by cryptography. Proof-of-Work: An algorithm which provides a computationally infeasible problem to solve, modified by a difficulty factor to allow partial solutions. These solutions are easy to verify and prove the performance of computational work.

A Review on Consensus Algorithms in Blockchain

Block chain technology is a decentralized data storage structure based on a chain of data blocks that are related to each other. Block chain saves new blocks in the ledger without trusting intermediaries through a competitive or voting mechanism. Due to the chain structure or the graph between each block with its previous blocks, it is impossible to change blocking data. Block chain architectur...

The Stellar Consensus Protocol - A federated model for Internet-level consensus

This paper introduces a new model for consensus called federated Byzantine agreement (FBA). FBA achieves robustness through quorum slices—individual trust decisions made by each node that together determine system-level quorums. Slices bind the system together much the way individual networks’ peering and transit decisions now unify the Internet. We also present the Stellar Consensus Protocol (...

Financial Innovation

Background Bitcoin, a peer-to-peer electronic currency, is a distributed ledger system (Nakamoto 2009). Every transaction is broadcast and verified by all nodes in the network through a particular consensus mechanism (Bonneau et al. 2015; Yermack 2013). Every node collects transactions in a block and the block is associated with a difficult mathematical problem. Solving that problem is called m...

SoK: Consensus in the Age of Blockchains

The blockchain initially gained traction in 2008 as the technology underlying Bitcoin [105], but now has been employed in a diverse range of applications and created a global market worth over $150B as of 2017. What distinguishes blockchains from traditional distributed databases is the ability to operate in a decentralized setting without relying on a trusted third party. As such their core te...
